Whether you are an art history major or want to be captivated by the most visually appealing art, the Joslyn is your place. The Joslyn emphasizes 19th- and 20th-century European and American art and has pieces that range from ancient times to the present. Not to mention they make for some great backdrops!
Jun Kaneko is a Japanese artist that has been based in Omaha since 1986. His work is located in three turn-of-the-century warehouses in the Old Market, and he has a mission to celebrate and foster creativity. He offers many exhibits, performances, and classes throughout the year in Omaha. Our personal favorite is his remarkable After-Hours Light exhibit!
Hot shops is made up of four studios all dealing with fire to create sensational works of art. They specialize in glass blowing, sculpting with fire, pottery, and fabrication. Hot Shops hosts over 80 studio artists and multiple galleries that make it a diverse and collaborative environment. They offer classes on anything from painting and photography, to glass blowing. My recommendation is that you go there for a souvenir or gift. Nothing is more special than a one of a kind hand blown cup or bowl that is made specifically for you.
