QAT Flow is a dual-purpose process automation engine for CA Gen. For the IT community, this component enables CA Gen applications to automate business process orchestration within the enterprise and features seamless integration with Gen Action Blocks and/or Web Services. For the business community, this component enables a workflow management system, graphical process modeling, and automated data collection.
Activities are modeled using the embedded graphical process designer and interpretively executed by the QAT Flow process engine. Activities that can be modeled and automated include, but are not limited to, conditional execution of existing CA Gen action blocks and user processes, collection of user information and approvals through data entry interfaces, dynamic rule processing, notification messages, business throughput analysis, task queue management, printing documents and providing interface points to other applications. |

Product Features
- Define enterprise wide business processes and execute them on the fly.
- Use the process model diagram to fully define the business process.
- Work Flow Processes can be defined and divided between Functional Areas of a business. Two different Functional Areas can have the same business process, but execute them differently.
- Full Version control of Work Flows with synchronization features that allow the seamless retirement of one version and the activation of the next.
- Work Flows and work flow steps can be inactivated. This allows work flows and/or their steps to be reactivated only when they are needed.
- Full descriptions of work flow steps and user instructions for execution of the steps can be entered.
- Supports sequential and parallel work process flows. Dependent steps can be established on any previous work flow step. You can also ensure that all previous steps have been completed.
- Logical "and/or" branching based on user defined rules allow dynamic control of the Work Flow.
- The rules are built using parameters, data values entered during the execution of the Work Flow or by retrieving data from external sources. Based on the evaluation of the rule, a Work Flow can follow different paths of execution. Data Parameters are dynamically defined for each Work Flow. They can be user entered parameters unique to the Work Flow or they can be linked to external data sources.
- Work Flows can dynamically call external interfaces to execute programs or retrieve data from other sources.
- Work Flows can call other Work Flows (Sub-Flows). Sub-Flows can be Synchronous so that data is shared between the two flows and control of the main flow is dependent on the sub-flow or Asynchronous so that data is pass from the main flow, but the two flows continue independent of each other.
- Control Work Flow Step execution based on user entered effective dates.
- Steps can be re-routed to previous steps if additional work is required. Multiple re-route paths can be defined for each step.
- Work Flow status can be dynamically changed as steps are completed.
- Notification of Work Flow completion and step completion can be automatically generated.
Define Functional Areas and Business Process Users
- QAT Flow allows definition of users that can receive work assignments from this system.
- A hierarchy tree view is used to define and represent the Functional Areas of an Organization. Functional Areas can represent an organization chart or any logical grouping that is required to support the business process.
- Users can be grouped together into Functional Areas. Work Flow Steps can be assigned to a specific user or to any user in a Functional Area.
- Functional Area users can be allowed to assign and manage the Work Queues.
Work Management Queues
- Work Flow Steps post to a work management queue based on dependent step completion.
- The Work flow queue can be filtered based on Functional Area, status and date range.
- A tree view interface is used to organize the Work Queue.
- Queue steps can be selected by a user or assigned to a user by a Manager.
- Managers have full control of the work in their Functional Areas. Work can be assigned to employees within a Functional Area and the work of all employees can be monitored.
- Users can track their active Work Flow items.
- Steps in a queue can be completed, pended, re-routed, or terminated.
- Pended Work Flow Steps can be documented and assigned multiple pending reasons.
- Steps completed can be documented with activity descriptions and decisions that control future Work Flow Steps.
- Through component integration, A Work Flow can initiate printing of documents, read/write data to external databases, execute an external application or flow to a window in another application.
Work Management History
- Complete tracking of Work Flow History. Allows searching and retrieval of Work Flows based on date ranges, work flow status, and request type.
- Identifies users that worked each Work Flow Step with step initiation dates and step completed dates.
- Work Flow documentation including notes, instructions, decisions , pending reasons are available from history.
Other Highlights
- Supports complete error messaging .
- Supports complete security functions with QAT Security.
- Full Compliance with Computer Associates' CBD Standards.
- Built using QAT Wizard.
