QAT DDM
Automated Code Table Maintenance
Table maintenance is one of those necessary elements of most applications. However, it is not worth the investment of valuable time and resources to create and maintain unique user interfaces for each table if the same can be accomplished with rapid automation.
DDM stands for "Dynamic Data Maintenance." It provides automated web interfaces to manage either dynamic or physical application tables using a rich Ajax user interface. QAT DDM is used in Agility BPM™ to provide support for complex data structures, and has also been a strategic element of several very successful customer projects at QAT because of its ability to automate user defined data elements.
Dynamic Tables - Dynamic tables are virtual tables (vs. physical database tables). In the case of dynamic tables, DDM stores the data structure as metadata (i.e. using a highly normalized database structure) and provides a modern web interface to maintain that data. Multiple columns can be defined and maintained and it includes support for simple one-to-many relations. In this case, both the storage and the user interface are automated by QAT DDM.
Physical Tables - Physical tables are also supported by providing a modern web interface to maintain the data. In the case of physical tables, QAT DDM only defines the physical data structure to automate the necessary web interface. Data maintenance is provided by data sources, which include Gen Common Action Blocks, dynamic SWL and hand-written processes.
QAT DDM is useful for rapidly providing administrative table maintenance interfaces and related server processes.
